Also, it looks like the displayed indicator mixes data from different slots: when I have a connection on the secondary slot using EDGE, I see an icon with an "H" some times, and with an "E" (the right one) some times. The H is probably taking from the technology in the primary slot, which is not attached.

Also, related to this one: mobile broadband data connection speed is right now always coming from SIM 1, even if SIM 2 is the one used for mobile broadband.

The design for the network indicator says nothing about indication of which slot is being used when it describes the behavior with respect to active mobile data connection w/no wi-fi connections. See the description in the wiki:

The proper way to see which SIM is configured for GPRS is to check the system settings per:

as per comment #4, on engineering side we don't need additional design. The modem-info item already has a place for the cellular connectivity icon, but it's not yet implemented on the service side.

The only thing Patty needs to take care of that the new consolidated indicator ux spec mentions this icon. You get the idea how it will look by looking at this draft I made before:

The last two pairs of modem-info items demonstrate the case where SIM 1 is roaming and SIM 2 is used for cellular data.

Just as a reminder, this bug also causes the indicator to always show SIM 1 mobile broadband icon, even though SIM 2 would be in use for mobile broadband.
