Comment 2 for bug 1308371

In image Utopic 140, I still can't add a new contact from the dialer app. I see a "person" icon in the upper right, but tapping it takes me somewhere I can only search, not add a contact.

However, if I actually call the number there is a way to add it as a contact afterward. Drag up the "Recent" tab from the bottom of the screen, slide the contact to the left, and hit the person-plus icon.

So, it's possible now... just not until the number is in the call history, and it's not really obvious that the entry can slide sideways for additional actions. I tried long-pressing it first, but that only gives me the option to delete the entry or select multiple entries for deletion -- no other actions such as adding a contact or starting a SMS conversation.
