Bug Description
There doesn't seem to be a way to cancel a search. I'm using 14.04 (r45) on a Nexus 7
To reproduce:
1) On the home screen, tap the search button at the top left of the screen. The search text box and onscreen keyboard appear
2) Tap the search button again to cancel the search and hide the OSK
Expected results:
The search text box and OSK go away
Actual results:
The search text box and OSK stay onscreen. There does not seem to be a way to make them go away - I've tried tapping the search button, dragging/sliding the search text box, tapping outside of the text box, etc. Nothing seems to work.

Same problem in Nexus 4. And the apps icon are clickable under the keyboard...
