Bug Description

Currently if there is a problem accessing the data provider, a popup appears. We need input from design to make this beautiful and fit with other app error dialogs.

This can be replicated by switching off wifi and 3g and searching for a city.

We have similar issues with the clock app. Would love to get a unified design for handling errors such as no wifi or 3g. Hence adding clock-app to this bug report.

@Daniel, The core apps development is frozen by 10th October and hence I would like to know if we can expect a design solution by then. If not, I can use a temporary solution to inform the user of an error for the 1.0 release and come back to this in the next solution.

If the error is not critical it does not impede users from using the app, this type of in-app notification should be used:

However, each solution needs to be tackled within a specific context. For example, messaging could be presented in the content area
