The workaround worked for me too, on Raring 64. Now the only problem are the security concerns. My computer is a laptop, and I sometimes change locations where I connect from. It is mostly at the apartment where I stay during studies, at my faculty, at the hackerplace I sometimes frequent, and at my parent's home. I guess I can trust those 4, more-less, BUT...
