crashes when you click on section heading "Desktop"

Clicked on the heading "Desktop", it attempted to display the "Compiz Settings" panel, but didn't make it.

Actually, scrap that description above. It's actually the "Compiz settings" panel that fails to load "encounters an error", and the right side is blank.
