Bug Description

Hi Tualatrix, I just wanted to give the login into LinuxMint a new Look and opened ubuntu-tweak. Then I went down the left column, until I found "Login-settings". Then I clicked on this and all of a sudden, an error-message appeared, saying that there was a problem with loading this one module.

But all the other modules of ubuntu-tweak run normal as usual.

Then appeared a new window, which suggested to send a bug-report and gave me this further information, which I put in the following:

Distribution: Linux Mint 10 Juli
Application: Ubuntu Tweak 0.5.8
Desktop: gnome

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/ubuntutweak/mainwindow.py", line 437, in setup_notebook
    page = module()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/ubuntutweak/modules/loginsettings.py", line 74, in __init__
    self.__setup_logo_image()
  File "/usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/ubuntutweak/modules/loginsettings.py", line 110, in __setup_logo_image
    pixbuf = gtk.gdk.pixbuf_new_from_file(path)
GError: Datei »/tmp/tmprylmME« konnte nicht geöffnet werden: Permission denied

If I look at the first line, the this one seems incorrect to me, because I do not use this app on a Laptop or even Notebook, but a so called Nettop, which is a stationary machine.

All the time before, there was no error at all and everything worked so smooth and well, that I can't blame anything of this nice little app. Perhaps, you can find out, what is wrong with this app??

If you need further information for example to my system-architecture or even to the version of Gnome-Desktop, then just let me know.
Then I wanted to add, that LinuxMint is an ubuntu-based distro, which uses the same Synaptic as ubuntu.

For further information, I enclose a screenshot of this error for further investigation.

Greetings
Karmicbastler

Hi Tualatrix,

I have made up my mind by myself, why this could have happend. My question would be the following thing:

Can it be possible that this happened, because for the Login-Icons, I chose a theme which is placed in usr/share/icons?? Could this be the fault?? But I am not sure. The next question would be for me, if I can only use icons, which are placed in my personal .icons-folder??

Perhaps you can tell me more??

Greetings

Thanks Tualatrix.
I am really interested, in knowing what causes this fault and if it is something, what I as user do wrong or what is the real cause??

Hi, here's the reply for you.

1. I'm not sure what causes the fault, so I'm currently working on this bug and try to solve it.

2. Of cause you can use icons placed in ~/.icons-folder.
