Basically when trying to configure anything compiz related, I get an error. This isn't just in Tweak, it's in anything Compiz related.

Are you using the compiz PPA in your apt sources?

If so, try removing or commenting out the PPA in your sources.list, remove all compiz files showing up as "local" when doing the "origin" filter in Synaptic, and reinstall the version of compiz and compiz-related packages currently on the main Ubuntu repository (0.8.6 for Maverick).

Confirm that removing local, adding from main repository corrects this error. My suggestion is to boot between removal, reinstall AND resetting your preferences. I believe this bug should be closed based on the fact that the solution works.

However, this error persists even after clean reload of the 10.10. Reference 659447 "Compiz does not work in Ubuntu 10.10"
