Bug Description

I tried a system update on Lucid AMD64 and now everything hangs on the package tzdata.
Everytime the package is to be installed the package-manager hangs.

After that i must manually cleanup the lock files but the installation is not clean and could not be repaired.
What can i do?

Can you please tell me why this bug report is invalid?

Maybe this package is ok but then there is a problem with the package manager.
Now i can't install any package any more because dpkg says it MUST install this package.
Even if i set this pckage on hold.

I have no idea how to fix this problem?

The problem begins with the installation of iotop (refer to Bug 655553).
This package is definitely broken with an uncorrect filelist.

The bug was not closed. I reassigned the bug to the correct Ubuntu
package (tzdata), and closed the ubuntu-translations bug because it was
not an issue that was related to translations.

Please be patient until the tzdata maintainers have had the chance to
look a the issue.

Hi lsmod! Thanks for your report and I'm sorry you are having this problem. So, the output that you paste in the description seems to indicate that the tzdata package is installing correctly. Is that not the case? Are you saying that "apt-get install tzdata" is never returning after the "Entpacke Ersatz für tzdata ..." output line? Please let me know and I can try to investigate further. Also please report back if in fact the problem has been resolved for you.

Thanks very much!
Gary

There was a problem after updating the KDE-libs and i rolled back to a previous backup.
After the last manual update excluding the KDE-libs it seems that the problem has gone.

~$ dpkg -l | grep tzdata
ii tzdata 2010m-0ubuntu0.10.04 time zone and daylight-saving time data
ii tzdata-java 2010m-0ubuntu0.10.04 time zone and daylight-saving time data for

But i have the same problem on another PC with a complete other (new) installation.
I will check it there.

Here it is the same. The file is not transferred to the printer.
