Bug Description

When running "nmcli device wifi", the list of avalaible SSID appears with their rate.

In english (LANG=C), the rate unit is "Mbit/s".
In french (LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8), it has been translated to "Mo/s", which means "MBytes/s"!

Assuming the original (english) unit is correct, then it should stay "Mbit/s" in french.

Thanks for reporting.

Looks like two string have been translated to "Mo/s".

I don't know French well enough to do it myself, but it is possible to add a new translation suggestion.

Mo [french] = Mega octets [french] = Mega Bytes [english]

There's already a suggestion for 261, and I added a new one for 281, but I don't know if/when it will be reviewed. The current suggestions for 261 have been added since 2008 and 2011!

The issue is upstream as well
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/blob/master/po/fr.po

It should be reported on https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager either as an issue reports or with a merge proposal for code change

How can it be “Fix Committed” when the upstream file at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/blob/master/po/fr.po still has the wrong translation?

@Alexandre: It's about to be fixed in Ubuntu's language pack, but you are right, it's not yet dealt with in the network-manager package, neither in Ubuntu nor upstream. It would be good if someone could submit an upstream merge request.

Changed in network-manager (Ubuntu):
status: Fix Committed → New
