I mean that those messages may have been generated under some non-UTF-8 encoding. Can you please show us what the locale command outputs?

It would be good if you could explain how to reproduce the issue.

You are on 16.04 it seems from the comment #1 snippet, can you confirm? What's the output of "locale"?

The problem was caused by a personal script. Sorry for the inconvenience
