Bug Description
In former versions of Ubuntu the "Ambiance" theme was the default for good reasons.
I'm missing it painful sadly.
Please integrate that choice again in display presentation settings, including the matching icons, widgets, background colours, mouse pointer, character style.
The workaround via Unity-Tweek-Tool is inconvenient (fast switch between themes) and incomplete (it doesn't cover all aspects of the orginal "Ambiance" theme, e.g. icons, widgets, background colours, mouse pointer, character style). It appears in some apps, that there is the same or mostly same colour for text and background in some widgets, e.g. Thunderbird tabs.
So workaround via Unity-Tweek-Tool doesn't do the job really.
An additional workaround is:
gsettings set org.gnome.

You can also use gnome-tweak-tools. Can you not select Ambiance from unity control Center ?
I think Ambiance is not maintained anymore. Yaru is default theme now.
