Bug Description
Due to Bug #1520422 I often have to keep tapping the screen to keep the terminal awake. When I do so it enters a tab. This is pretty annoying, and sometimes it can screw up whatever I'm doing.
I don't know why anyone would find tapping the screen to enter a tab to be useful functionality. It certainly isn't discoverable (Bug #1464316). And it's very easy to bring up a toolbar which has tab on.
A single tap on the screen is far too simple a gesture to be assigned to something that may cause damage - the screen often gets tapped by accident. I think it should be removed. Possibly it could be replaced with a double tap or a two-finger tap.
It could also be made configurable. In that case, it should be possible to assign the gesture to any other command, and probably a suite of other gestures should be made available too. That's complex and needs good design, which is why my first suggestion is that it just be removed entirely.
Bug #1520422 is now fixed
