Bug Description

krillin, rc-propose/bq-aquaris.en, r394

Description
I downloaded an OS update with wifi, then I switched wifi off. I tried installing the update, but nothing happened.
After 1:30h I switched WiFi on. At that point the phone suddenly rebooted to install the update while I was doing something else!

I'm not sure if this is a reliable way to reproduce the bug, but here's what happened:
1) Turn WiFi on
2) Go to system-settings->Updates
3) Download OS update
4) disable WiFi, mobile data is now ON and CONNECTED
5) press on "Install"
6) Confirm installation on the system settings dialog

Expected outcome
The phone is rebooted to install the update

Actual outcome
Nothing happens until WiFi is switched back on again.
When you turn WiFi back on, the phone suddenly reboots while you're using it

Your phone is probably set to only download while over wifi. I forget exactly where this is in the ui but there's a place where you can tell it to always download regardless of whether you're on wifi or data. This can also be set via the command line if you log into your phone.

See `man system-image-cli` and `man system-image-dbus` for details.

We'll need a copy of /var/log/system-image/client.log but it would be great if
you could truncate that, then reproduce the problem, so that the log file only
contains the output showing the issue. If that's not possible (e.g. because
the problem isn't reproducible), then just attach the client.log and let us
know where in the log file corresponds to your report.

If the problem is reproducible, then there are several other suggestions I can
make to help try to narrow down the problem.

Hi Barry,

thanks for the info. I'm afraid I don't have that info in my .log anymore, and I'm not sure I will have time to investigate this soon :/

Have you tried reproducing the bug?

Bug reproduced.

Here's what I did
0) made sure mobile data was connected
1) connected to WiFi
2) downloaded update using WiFi
3) popped Updates page
4) disabled WiFi from the Network indicator and waited for the device to switch to mobile data
5) went back into Updates page
6) at this point it seemed stuck on "Looking for updates...", so I popped the page again
7) went back into Updates once more
8) This time I could see the update with the install button
9) tap on install
10) System-settings "In progress" fullscreen dialog shows
12) After 10 minutes, nothing yet, still "In progress"
13) connect to Wifi using Network indicator, nothing happens, still "in progress"

Please find client.log attached

NOTE: nothing is written to client.log when I tap on install and I get the "In progress" fullscreen view

I'm now on the New Update view.

1) Download update over wifi

2) Switch Wifi and 3g Data off

3) Tap on install

Nothing happens.

I also went back out and back in, and now update screen said "Cannot check updates without connection", although the update was already downloaded, it just didn't let me install it.
