Bug Description

In Lucid and Maverick the offline start page doesn't show any images and CSS is also not used. They are defined in the HTML code of the page, and they are displayed if I open the file in Firefox, but I've got plain text if it's opened as about:home.

I think the images are loaded from an ONLINE server :P
So that's not really a bug, but this "problem" affects me too :)

No, they're local. Everything works if you just open the HTML in Firefox. It's just relative address. And I tried to set them to local with absolute address, but it still doesn't work with about:home.

No, they're online. :P Just look: http://start.ubuntu.com/10.04/sprite.png
These are the sprites for the Start page ;)

I'm talking about the offline page. Switch Firefox to offline mode, open /usr/share/ubuntu-artwork/home/firefox-index.html in Firefox, then open about:home, and see the difference.

Oh, you're right, sorry :P
Didn't knew that the page is switching, when switching to offline mode ;)

Since this sounds like a simple case of the CSS file not being linked to when offline, I'm going to confirm this as a papercut.

No, unfortunately, it is not just bad CSS linking. All externally linked files are not loaded even when all the links are correct. I tried linking them with absolute paths, but it didn't help.
I ended up using the Karmic switcher for my remix - it also doesn't work as shipped in Ubuntu, but I managed to fix it. But this about:home seems like mysticism to me.

By the way, there's a very similar bug #675271, I think they are connected somehow.

Is this bug still valid in firefox 7 on Oneiric?

It seems the start page is now about:startpage which does not seems to work when in offline mode at all so this bug now seems invalid.

about:home goes to the default firefox home page rather than the ubuntu page (it works in offline and online mode).

ubuntu-artwork doesn't include the offline version of startpage anymore. Marking this bug as invalid.
