This page, https://login.ubuntu.com/+forgot_password, is entered when a user states he has lost his password. It prompts you to check the email that will give you a confirmation code and a link to a password reset page. Unfortunately this page does not contain any method of entering or using the confirmation code. I have included a screen shot of the relevant page. This problem is present in Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome_stable.
If the confirmation code is no longer used all reference to it should be removed from this page and from the password reset email. If it is still used, a mechanism to use it should be provided on this page. The URL on the email page does work. This situation diminishes confidence in the competence of the Ubuntu organization, particularly for new or naive users.
Hello, thanks for reporting this.
The password reset e-mail contains a link which should be used by clicking on it directly. The ability to enter the confirmation code was removed since the codes were far too unwieldy to type by hand (and can't be made much shorter for security reasons).
So the work to be done here is removing the "or enter the confirmation code below." part of the text.
