can't enter an email with a period

Bug Description
I tried to submit feedback in the Ubuntu software center and I was asked to create an account. I tried to enter my usual email, <email address hidden>, and received the error icons on the email field. I tried it again and received the error again. So I tried my other email, <email address hidden>, and it didn't work, either. So I tried <email address hidden>, and then it worked. I suspect that it doesn't accept email addresses with a period before the @.
