Bug Description

According to powertop (from an ssh session), compiz is generating 190 wakeups per second when the screen is locked. This does not seem to be related to unity because it still happens when I unload unityshell.

Can't reproduce this one either. Just with gnome-panel, compiz and the lockscreen.

If you have something underneath the lock screen that's doing a lot of repaints (eg a browser spinner or something) then that will cause lots of wakeups.

I suppose we could temporarily disable damage tracking for occluded windows. Though that's a huge can of worms.

Isn't this a duplicate of bug #1194004? (And I am sure there was a third bug, but I can't find it.)

Yes bug 1194004 was a duplicate of this. Silly me.

Since this only happens with gnome-screensaver windows, we should mention that package too.
