Bug Description

http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/packaging-new-software.html

is very gcc centric. debhelper will work great for programs with a configure, make, make install structure.
Java on the other hand uses a completely different structure.

There needs to be some instructions on how to package a Java application into a .deb
with javahelper

I think we should be careful about making that article too complex. We can't handle every case there, but we could provide supplemental articles dealing with other build systems.

The Debian wiki has a good resource for Java packaging:

http://wiki.debian.org/Java/Packaging

Changed in ubuntu-packaging-guide:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Wishlist

When you want to seperate such themes from the main artical it would help when you could give links for special cases.

That would help people who want to do special packagings, like with java.
