Bug Description

I've installed raring-preinstalled-desktop-armhf+nexus7.img.gz dated 2012/01/03 from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-preinstalled/current/ on my N7 (booting via multirom).

When I start Ubuntu, it comes up with what looks like the ubiquity installer. Despite using tiny text and buttons, it works fine until I have to enter information, at which point the onboard keyboard doesn't redirect any keypresses to the input window, eg password for the wireless LAN, and username. The keys flash light grey as I touch them, but nothing gets sent to the text box.

Of course, not being able to enter a username means I can't complete the installation.

I wonder whether this is not a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-nexus7/+bug/1093050 .

yes it is, this issue started showing up when oem-config/ubiquity was switched to use compiz by default instead of metacity, it works after a reboot btw ... seems to be some kind of race condition we hit here
