Bug Description

After installing nvidia drivers and rebooting for activation, all windows are empty, but the menu on top still working.
Top bar loads and animations are smooth and fast but when you click on a menu section, the pages are white and not rendered.
I think that NVIDIA's proprietary libraries for acceleration such as
/usr/lib/libGL.so.190.42
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.190.42
make troubles with clutter-glx implementation.
I can only see battery and network pages (probably because they aren't clutter based)

Hi all!

I have the same problem
I have tried to install ubuntu moblin remix 9.10 Karmic on my unibody macbook 5.1.
(I choose this because i had already installed ubuntu 9.10 karmic and worked perfectly on my machine)
When istalled, everything was laggy and pretty unusable but everything was well-rendered
I decided to install restricted nvidia driver (my macbook has a 9400M nvidia chipset) and after the reboot, the top bar was perfect and the system smooth and really fast!
The only big problem is that i see white pages when clicking on the top (myzone/application etc.etc...). The top bar is correctly rendered but when i click on it i can only se white pages.
I also tried to click "browser" and the application itself works!! I could write text and navigate easily..

Does anybody know what the problem is?
I think that this is only a small problem of rendering.
Does anybody know how to fix it?

PS: I know that moblin is intended for atom processors and intel video chipset but i also know that moblin works perfectly on Intel core2duo with sse3 instructions and i know that probably it can works with nvidia chipset!

Thank's in advance

After hours of search I found that this bug is caused by a bad integration between NVIDIA's proprietary libraries for acceleration and clutter-glx implementation.

Unfortunantely, the only way to get ubuntu moblin remix working with nvidia graphic chipset is to install free nvidia drivers and to keep a slow and buggy system.

I think that real solutions can be obtained by patching clutter in order to make it work with Nvidia restricted drivers.
Anyone can help?

Exactly the same problem here. I was really happy when I discovered this distro. Really love the Moblin interface, very practical in netbooks or any laptop in general. It would be wonderfull that we could see UMR working with our nvidia using full performance.
