By default Claws mail and imap take forever

I have a Gmail account. I use imap to access it. Claws displays the contents of the account well and in a sensible manner linking related content together. However when updating rather than just grab new mail it resyncs all of the mail. I have close to 30000 mail entries as you can image this takes a while. I don't know if this is just a default that can be changed so it only gets the new mails but if you have more mail than me this will be tragically slow.

Environment used for testing: xephyr/menlow

Summary: Imap connections are slow due to claws re-reading all the mails rather than just the new ones. This is especially slow for gmail where most users have a lot of mail.

Steps to Reproduce:

1: open claws
2: setup an imap account (gmail is the prime exapmle)
3: access mail
4: give it a few minutes and get mail again

Expected result: I expect a similar result as evolution and thunderbird in that it just retrieves the new mails rather than all of them

Actual result: It downloads all the headers anew rather than just the news ones
