Bug Description

Build Version/Date: UME Daily 20080409
Environment used for testing: Xephyr

Summary:
Flash movies from popular websites do not play by default.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Launch Browser
2) Browse to www.youtube.com
3) Select any movie

Expected result:
Movie loads and plays

Actual result:
Warning that user has Java turned off or old version of flash player.
Get flash player now link

It was my understanding that we can't distribute flash directly, so it needs to be installed first.

We can't distribute flash. Current flash license precludes this. You can install flash to test it but we can't put it into a private or public build.

This could be fixed in midbrowser just like it's done in firefox: provide UI to install either gnash or flash from the Ubuntu repositories if a site requires flash. I'm assigning to midbrowser which could try using the ubufox extension (see the ubufox package) or a similar extension.

installing the non-free flash from repositories does work.
