Bug Description

The Launchpad page for the Ubuntu Minnesota LoCo (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-minnesota) lists a mailing list, but at this time it appears that not all members of the team are necessarily subscribed to that list. Additionally, not everyone lists a publicly viewable contact e-mail address, causing our team to run into the issue described in Bug #66105 when wanting to send out important notices. Consider this answer request closed when that bug is closed.

So, for the time being important notices will be added to this, with the team subscribed. It's a weird hack, but I think it will work?

Team members - consider this a friendly reminder to:
a) subscribe to the mailing list
b) consider making your e-mail public, if you're comfortable doing so
c) attend our meeting this Thursday, as described on https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-us-mn/2007-September/000008.html

Rusty, could you please send the results of looking into possible locations for the Gutsy release party to Brad Johnson and myself ASAP? I have just been informed of an opportunity to get professionally printed promotional flyers for free through System76, but to do so we need to have ALL of our FINAL information about date, time, location, etc. submitted by this FRIDAY, October 5th, so we do need to hustle a bit.

Anyone else who was looking into things for the party, also take note, and let me know in the next day or two if possible about anything that might be relevant to the flyer.

Note: Meeting summary including discussion about our release party at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MinnesotaTeam/Meetings/MeetingOne

Remember everyone, our release party is TODAY! Yay!

Details are on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MinnesotaTeam/Events/GutsyGibbonReleaseParty .

I hope to see everyone there, and bring a friend (or more!).

What should you bring?
Yourselves!

If you can / want to:
Snacks, preferably not things that will be too messy, since we want to make sure we leave a clean room when we leave
A small handheld-type vaccuum cleaner if you have one, in case we mess up the first item
Computers with CD burners (for people who can't burn themselves and want us to give them a disk)
Blank CD media
"Hello, my name is:" stickers
Markers for name tags

You are welcome to bring personal computers, but this is not necessary, as we only need a few for demos. This should stay largely a social event, with multiple people sharing the computers we have and discussing the release with each other, not a bunch of individuals staring at laptops (you know what I mean - some of us aren't always the most social types, but we should try to be for this).

If you buy any of these items special for the event, save the receipt so we can put a dollar figure on them in our records. We'll record anything that comes in as a donation from you, etc. (I haven't yet written up the full spec for how we should keep track of things, but I'll try to explain what I have in mind if you're curious - for the time being, just work on the assumption that you can never keep too much of a paper trail.)

Hello all! Now that the semester is wrapping up for those in the group
who are students, everyone has a brief lull between major holidays, and
before we launch ourselves into 2008, I think it's time we brought our
heads together again to hash out the next steps in the direction of our
team.

Therefore, we will be having a meeting on IRC this THURSDAY, at 19:30
CST (7:30 PM, for those of you who don't speak 24-hr clock), in
#ubuntu-minnesota on Freenode.

For those of you not already familiar with IRC, there are instructions
for many popular clients available on
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/InternetRelayChat. Additionally, if
you have any trouble understanding those, just go to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MinnesotaTeam and click on the link labelled
"Web Client" on the line containing "IRC -
irc://irc.freenode.net/#ubuntu-us-mn, or [WWW] Web Client" under
"Resources". This will take you straight to our channel, where you can
either participate from within your browser, or get help setting up a
desktop client.

You can add any items you would like discussed to the agenda at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MinnesotaTeam/MeetingAgenda. This is a time to
check in for any progress on previously mentioned items, hopefully talk
about some plans for an Installfest in collaboration with TCLUG, and
start pinning down details on the major initiatives we want to persue
for the first quarter of 2008.
