Bug Description

This is a difficult one because i don't clearly know if this is a bug or a design decision.

The Workspace Switcher applet currently has somewhat misproportioned dimensions for the individual workspaces' icons.

MATE general version
mate-panel 1.27.1

This bug appeared pretty early since first daily-ISO, see:
https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/testdriving-daily-build-24-04-noble-numbat
(this thread also contains screenshots)

Expected behaviour:
mate-panel workspace switcher applet typically displays each workspace with the same aspect ratio as the host display (e.g., 16:9)

Actual behaviour:
Workspace switcher applet displays each workspace with a fixed width, disregarding aspect ratio

Might be a regression:
This bug might possibly be a regression from an earlier libwnck bug in Mate 1.24 involving the good libwnck 3.36.0-1 and the aspect-ratio-troubled 40.0-1

The thread where this issue has been discussed:
https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/misproportioned-workspace-switcher-applet/24771

mentioning:
https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-panel/issues/1230

I guess both developers and betatesters have seen this bug already (difficult to miss)
I decided to file this bug anyway for completeness (and at least before the desktop freeze).
