Bug Description

From a fresh install with Ubuntu Mate 22.04, do:

1. Login into your user with password.
2. Open Firefox.
3. Enter "https://github.com/pimlie/ubuntu-mainline-kernel.sh" at URL address.
4. GUI will reset and go back to login screen like started a new session.

This also happens when I tried with opening a '.log' with Pluma.

I've tried a lot of things at other installation to tackle this problem, but I couldn't solve the problem.

Hi Fernando, and thanks for reporting this bug!

If, as you wrote in the bug description, you reproduce it when logging in with your uername and password, then this bug is not related to bug 1593407, which is about the "guest session" (that is the session for those users who don't have a login in the machine).

There appears to be something wrong with the user session. Are you using Wayland or Xorg?

Also, can you please attach the output of these commands (you can run them before opening the troublesome link in firefox, while your session is still working):

    systemctl --user status xdg-document-portal.service
    systemctl --user status snap.snapd-desktop-integration.snapd-desktop-integration.service

Changed in snapd (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Could you add a 'journalctl -b 0' log after getting the issue?

Hi Alberto, I used the "echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE" to check the display server and it returned "x11", which I assume it's Xorg (don't know anything about this).

I will attach the new logs for the commands you've asked.

could you also tell us at what time exactly the session closed in that log and on what action to try to match the error?

I don't recall which time exactly, sorry! I will delete the previous log and send a new one with the time it crashed.

16:41:43 is the exact time the session crashed.

Thanks, so yes it seems the session is going away without error logged there, it would probably require someone from the Ubuntu MATE team to provide hints on how to increase the session debugging level.

One other thing worth trying is to attach gdb to the Xorg server from a ssh connection and see if that one is going away or hitting a crash

Okay, I found this doc: https://www.x.org/wiki/Development/Documentation/ServerDebugging/ for the server debugging, is it enough? Do you know any other tutorials/resources so I can try do it by myself? And I would appreciate if a Ubuntu MATE contributor could help.
