Bug Description

Reproduced on Ubuntu MATE 20.04 final release (VM and real hardware)

Package version: mate-dock-applet (20.04.0-1) / grsync (1.2.6-2)

- make sure your layout includes the MATE dock applet and preferably also the window list for comparison
- install grsync (sudo apt install grsync)
- launch grsync
=> grsync window is listed in window list but it is missing from the dock applet

this worked fine in the previous LTS (18.04)

Just upgraded from Debian 10.11 to Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.3 and can confirm this problem.

To make matters worse, when you launch Grsync, start a sync operation it totally crashes Mate-Dock rendering it useless until you reboot the computer.

Can also confirm, Grsync DID NOT crash the Mate-Dock in Debian 10.x.

Given Mate-Dock is a major component to my desktop layout, seriously considering giving up on Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.3 and going back to Debian.

Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.3 workaround

Open MATE menu editor and locate the entry for Grsync

Change TYPE to Application in Terminal, close menu editor.

Now Grsync shows up in MATE-Dock and runs w/o crashing the dock.

no longer affects: ubuntu-mate
