Martin and team please help!

I have Mate 18.04 running on a few systems, I had it on this system (Thinkpad T420) for over a year, then decided I would try Ubuntu 18.04 Proper for awhile, aproximetly 1 month, I did not care for it. So after nuking and paving a fresh install of Mate 18.04 again I am trying to get all my software reinstalled, however I have been having a bugger of a time trying to get caja-dropbox installed.

I have gone thru all the regular debugging, fix broken packages, updates, upgrades, etc.. I even removed, purged and reinstalled thru the CL. I think it is a python issue, but nothing I try seems to fix it. Attached is the text from the terminal, hope this helps get my problem fixed.

I absolutely love your podcats, and the entire jupiter broadcasting team. I have learned alot, but not enough....

Thank you, Mike P

This is an Dropbox upstream issue. There is a work-around:

Caja dropbox does not start.

The libdropbox_apex.so shared object, as distributed by Dropbox, has the wrong file permissions.

The workaround is to open a terminal and run the following command:

sudo chmod a+rx /var/lib/dropbox/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-*/libdropbox_apex.so

Changed in ubuntu-mate:
status: New → Invalid
