Bug Description

Please bare with me and forgive any confused with regard to the title.

When using virt-manager to run Windows 10 using KVM, including having installed the relevant packages from the Ubuntu wiki page, the entire host system locks up and requires a hard shut down. This has occurred on both Xubuntu and Ubuntu MATE 19.10 beta. It doesn't happen on 19.04. This could be a virt-manager issue(the Bionic package is 1.5.1, the Disco package is 2.0.0), but I cannot find the issue so I have decided to report here instead.

Thanks.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1846281/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I notice that after the upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10, the 'libvirt' user account is no longer visible in LightDm. Could this be related? Maybe somehow access to the libvirt account is broken.

@Ross - there was no change to the users.
Maybe finally bug 857651 was fixed in for lightDM to not show the system users.

For the hang itself, do you get and Host hangchecks, or other info in dmesg what is going on when entering the hang?

With the description I can so far only hug and feel bad for you, but not fix any bug.

Is there anything interesting in /var/log/libvirt/qemu/<guestname>.log or dmesg.
Consider running dmesg -w in an extra console.

Do you use anything uncommon, like PCI passthrough (which on some FW/IOMMU hardware can be buggy).
Does it also happen with Ubuntu guests or only if you run Windows10?

Can you provide the XML description of your guets config (virsh dumpxml guestname) to allow us to check the config for any known issues?
