Bug Description

BACKGROUND:
The Ubuntu Mate Website has a section to verify the ISO checksum of a download.
https://ubuntu-mate.org/how-to-verify-downloads/

REQUIREMENT: If this should be done by non IT users, the appropriate method should be available. Telling non IT people that the command line and special knowledge is needed, will give a bad impression about Ubuntu Mate. And many will not attempt to check their downloads.
An alternative description is required.

SOLUTION SUGGESTION: There are user level methods such as the GUI command GTKHash which is available in the software centre.
See this clear step by step description on the forum:

This description could be added as it is.

GUI methods have been added to the website.

Thanks to @franksmcb for making the changes.

And of course @Norbert for the original post in the community.

There is a new website design in the works, in which I am hoping to re-visit these instructions so they are more visual for Windows/Mac users.
