I have lost the ability to get a network established using HP notebook with Broadcom BCM43142. I am a noob and don't usually understand much of what you guys are talking about.

using HP model 15-g208AU Rev: 22cd-120 notebook with Broadcom BCM43142 network/Bluetooth card. I am a noob and don't usually understand much of what you guys are talking about. Please be gentle. I lost the networking when I updated. I have tried a few things I have found on forums with no success.

Wifi button is showing off light. I am using MATE 16.04 desktop 1.12.1

I also experienced problems connecting to a network after the latest kernel update. I have a Broadcom BCM4350 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter.
