Bug Description

Upgraded from Ubuntu MATE 17.10 to 18.04 and installed the snap packages listed in the release post (ubuntu-mate-welcome, software-boutique and pulsemixer).

Afterwards, both Welcome and the Boutique appear in the Control Center but nothing happens when I click on the Boutique launcher. Launching Welcome works fine and from it I can access the Boutique but its own launcher doesn't work.

I've checked the content of the .desktop launchers and when i try to launch the Boutique from a terminal (env BAMF_DESKTOP_FILE_HINT=/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/ubuntu-mate-welcome_software-boutique.desktop /snap/bin/ubuntu-mate-welcome.software-boutique), I get the following error message:

cannot change profile for the next exec call: No such file or directory

No similar message when I run Welcome from a terminal (env BAMF_DESKTOP_FILE_HINT=/var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/ubuntu-mate-welcome_ubuntu-mate-welcome.desktop /snap/bin/ubuntu-mate-welcome). It launches fine.

After looking for the error, I saw another bug report on Launchpad related to snap packages that suggested issues with AppArmor profiles. Comparing my installation with a fresh one (in a VM), I noticed that I missed the file snap.ubuntu-mate-welcome.software-boutique in /var/lib/snaps/apparmor/profiles. I assume it might be the issue or related to it. But manually creating the file (with its content) on my system doesn't change anything. Uninstalling/reinstalling the snap isn't better either.

On my 18.04 system, which I upgraded from 17.10 and then installed the snaps on, I don't see Welcome or the Boutique in the Control Center at all, FWIW.

I had to install snapd first, then welcome as a snap package. After a reboot I am getting the following error messages:

File "/snap/ubuntu-mate-welcome/169/usr/bin/ubuntu-mate-welcome", line 3773, in <module>
    app = WelcomeApp()
  File "/snap/ubuntu-mate-welcome/169/usr/bin/ubuntu-mate-welcome", line 1487, in __init__
    self.load_app()
  File "/snap/ubuntu-mate-welcome/169/usr/bin/ubuntu-mate-welcome", line 1555, in load_app
    w.set_icon_from_file(icon_dir)
GLib.Error: g-file-error-quark: Failed to open file '/usr/share/ubuntu-mate-welcome/img/welcome/ubuntu-mate-icon.svg': No such file or directory (4)

The files are all there in the snap package, but you are confusing the "real" /usr/share/ubuntu-mate-welcome/img/welcome with the one "inside" the snap package.

Noticed today that the Boutique now launches from the Control Center. Not sure why, it looks like the issue fixed itself.
