Bug Description

On Ubuntu Mate 18.04 Beta 1 (Mate 1.20.0), icons for my mounted cifs shares do not appear on the desktop even though the Mounted Volumes option is selected in MATE Tweaks, nor do they appear under a Devices section in Caja. USB flash drives when inserted do appear and open for browsing as expected and appear under Devices in Caja.

With Mate 1.16.2 running on Ubuntu Mate 16.04 the icons for mounted cifs shares appear on the desktop and the shares appear in the "Devices" section in Caja.

I probably should have mentioned that these shares are mounted to folders in my home directory.

If you are mounting via fstab these folder won't show up on the desktop. Only gvfs connected volumes appear onbthe desktop.

I wrote a shell script that is started via rc.local. It monitors user logins/logouts and mounts/unmounts cifs shares based on a configuration file in the user's home directory. It does not depend on fstab entries. I am using the same script on Ubuntu Mate 16.04/Mate 1.16.2 and Linux Mint Mate 18.3 as well as other distributions. If the new desktop icon behavior in Ubuntu Mate 18.04/Mate 1.20 is intended then IMHO it is not an improvement.
