Bug Description

Ubuntu MATE 18.04 prerelease, latest package updates as of 2018-03-04, but have noticed this issue for some time, at least a few months.

Expected behavior: When using Compiz as the window manager, <Super>s - the default binding for "Expo Key" to zoom out and reveal all workspaces - activates Compiz Expo.

Actual behavior: <Super>s does nothing apparent. However, installing and opening CompizConfig Settings Manager and reassigning the Expo Key to something else (say, <Shift><Super>s) works as expected.

This has the symptoms of a keyboard shortcut conflict, but I've searched through the GUI for conflicts, and not found anything else using <Super>s. "gsettings list-recursively | grep Super" does not reveal anything else using that shortcut, either.

Reproduced the issue on a virtual machine and on physical hardware (Dell Mini 10v).

Same for me on Ubuntu 17.10. I also noticed that setting Super only as Expo key doesn't work either.

This behavior is - for some reason - caused by the new system tray in mate-panel. It's called 'Indicator Applet Complete'. You can use 'Indicator Applet' instead. I don't actually know the difference between the two, but they're very similar.
