Bug Description

Server offers shares via CIFS, so the automount creates a home directory on the client and then maps the user share as his home directory (like roaming profiles on a windows network).

Some clients are able to do this, and some don't.
All clients are set up scripted, same hardware (EXACTLY), so there is no possibility that a user has messed up the system.

Already asked here for help:
https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/after-login-desktop-only-shows-icons/15812

because i thought it might be a stupid PEBKAC, but after simulating this even in virtual environment...
There must be a permission issue.

System is:
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS patched latest, server and client side.
