Font not recognized problem

I've installed Mate 17.10 on three different machines and have the same problem on all.The fonts from my PIA VPN app don't render. This app has rendered fine on at least two previous versions of Ubuntu Mate. I searched and found this: https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/ttf-ms-fonts-issue/11043 which advised to install MS fonts manually, but that didn't fix the problem. I upgraded to the latest PIA VPN app version and that didn't change it. It seems to not be machine dependent or app version dependent, therefore it seems to me to be a Mate 17.10 bug.

Please request support from PIA. It is not a product support by Ubuntu.
