nm-applet truncates wifi password

On ubuntu-mate 16.04, pasting a long password in (33 chars) when attempting to connect to a wifi
network succeeds. However, if you click "show password", the password is truncated, and
login fails.

I can't reproduce this.
Is is possible you're actually affected by the following bug?

I'm currently traveling, and will not be able to retest this
until after Thanksgiving. My recollection is that I was well under
the 25 second time limit, but I can retest when I get back home.
