after pressing shut down button desktop theme changes

After selecting shut down from the system menu and before the computer turns off the desktop theme changes. The current theme is loaded fine again after the next boot.
OS: Ubuntu MATE 16.04 amd64 up to date (as of today).

Confirming this one, for me it does not happen every time but seems to occur more often when I have been using a lot of resources.

Yes this happens to me on every system I have on many different versions of ubuntu mate, I use mine for gaming with nvidia drivers and I see this very often when shutting down, it looks broken and is slightly annoying.

It has been this way for years unfortunately.

This issue is fixed since Ubuntu MATE 17.10.
