3. when selecting the title bar of an open window a grid on the should not appear encasing the whole window
4. Mate Tweak Windows Performance with the Don't show content while dragging them
when selecting the title bar of an open window from a either the trackpad or left button on a laptop a grid encasing the entire window appears
I assumed it was the window manager since when Compiz is selected as the window manager the grid does not appear, but that is just a guess.
If I have chosen the wrong package to file a bug against please provide a way to decipher the window behavior.

So are you saying the Don't show window content while dragging them checkbox is not intended to be checked.
I marked this checkbox and it locked up the desktop.
Since I don't the intended behavior and don't know where to find it after looking here http://git.mate-desktop.org/ and here
https://github.com/mate-desktop?page=3.
If I notice something that appears to be abnormal visually despite not knowing the intended behavior I assume something is wrong.

@warren there is nothing in your opening post or the bug title that indicates anything locked up. I am still confused as to what bug you are reporting here? Please can you update the bug title and opening post to clearly explain the issue you are experiencing and I'll be happy to investigate :-)

@Martin I'm trying figure why I'm getting this behavior. I have attached three more photos of this behavior on the desktop. My assumption is that this behavior comes from marco interacting with xorg causing the problems described. I have only gotten the desktop to lock-up once, but is easy to multiple grids to appear from just moving the cursor around the desktop. On one of the photos if you will notice that the cursor is not selecting any window but the grid outline of the window still appears. I have the bug title but I'm still uncertain if this the proper description or if the bug I filed is invalid.
