Bug Description
Apport displayed this report at end of installation so I decided to let apport do it's collecting.
I see now this refers to mate-panel so possibly because the notification area had to be relaunched upon booting into the live DE?
This is a first-look for me when it comes to Ubuntu MATE so I have to learn the new package names, etc.

I suspect bug #1425499 may be a duplicate of this, or at least related.

I'm testing 20150225 i386 now and did not see this just booting to the live DE, I'll wait and see what happens at the end of installation.
@ Seth Johnson, I noticed that both of my MATE bug reports were private so I had to switch them to public so they could be read. Maybe the Ubuntu MATE devs need to change some Launchpad setting????

PowerPC is also fine. Just i386 is affected.

Yep, I am using ubuntu mate 14.04. Notification area crashes on every login. Has to be reloaded. Usually fine for rest of session, but about 10% of time crashes again during session

should add, am using i386

@stevecook172001 Are you sure you mean 14.04? Please post the output of `lsb_release -a` on the affected computer.
If you are indeed running 14.04, can you tell me if you have the following PPA enabled?
* https:/
If you are running 14.04 and have that PPA enabled, then I believe this is a regression in GTK2 because I have built to next GTK2 release in the PPA above.

I have 15.04 running on two partitions of two laptops; one an older i386 and the newer an AMD64. I experience the bug on the former upon every boot but not at all on the latter.
Neither have the PPA crazy-mate installed.
| Martin Wimpress (flexiondotorg) wrote : | #17 |
OK, this looks like a regression in GTK2.
I have installed Ubuntu MATE 14.04 on i386. All works fine. I then add the following PPA where I have backported GTK 2.24.26-0ubuntu1 from Vivid.
* https:/
I now experience the exact same crashes in 14.04 that I've experienced on 15.04.
