Bug Description
Ubuntu MATE 15.04 alpha2
Changes made in the Appearance Preferences (A.P.) customize dialog are not made to elements of the system (such as the panels, menus and windows) outside the A.P. window until you log out and log back in.
Expected Behavior: This is in contrast to behavior in previous releases of Ubuntu MATE - 14.04 and 14.10. In these, changes immediately apply system-wide when an item is merely selected (controls, window borders, icons, pointer) in A.P. customize - no log out and log in necessary.
A few exceptions to paragraph one regarding 15.04: within the A.P. window itself, changes will appear inside it's large "theme icons" if you close that window and reopen it from the Control Center (but still no changes on the rest of the system). Also, window borders are an exception, and may change within the A.P. window without closing (but still no changes on the rest of the system).

There are several issues affecting settings in Ubuntu MATE 15.04 Alpha2, they are all due to a recent change in glib2:
* https:/ /git.gnome. org/browse/ glib/commit/ ?id=8ff5668a458 344da22d30491e3 ce726d861b3619
Several of the MATE components have been patched, there are still some more that require a review. But if you enable the following PPA and dist-upgrade you will get the fixes we've already prepared.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu- mate-dev/ vivid-mate
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Please report back after you've complete the dist-upgraded and rebooted :-)
