Bug Description

Scrollbar and its background have very low contrast. In some situations (if the slider on the scrollbar is small), such as browsing a folder with many files (/usr/bin for example) or reading a long document (in the web browser, Atril, Pluma...), his position is poorly recognized. Even for a healthy person. If you have low vision or worse display and poor lighting conditions (direct sunlight, etc.), the situation is even more complicated.

Related to accessibility and usability.

Affected themes: Ambiant-MATE and Radiant-MATE themes, but also Ambiance and Radiance themes.

My current configuration: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, MATE Desktop Environment 1.8.1, ubuntu-mate-dev PPA.

I apologize for my English.

Tomáš you make a good point and this is why for individuals with low vision the we provide the ContrastHigh and HighContrastInverse themes. You can activate them via System -> Preferences -> Appearence

OK. Thanks for the answer.

Suffice me other common themes. But it will not be so nice. :-)

ContrastHigh and HighContrastInverse do not satisfy me.

Neither ContrastHigh nor HighContrastInverse do change the color of the scrollbar. It stays light grey on not-so-light grey.
I have a good vision, but I still find it extremely annoying.
I'm on Ubuntu 14.04
