Bug Description

The file ".gtk-bookmarks" is missing in the user home directory after installation. So, the shortcuts are missing in the "Place" menu.

I have committed a work around to the ubuntu-mate-default-settings package. It is not the most elegant solution but should provide the desired behaviour when alpha 2 is release.

Sadly, the work around is not reliable.

After discussing this with the other MATE developers we've concluded this is not an issue with .gtk-bookmarks but an inconsistency in how the Menu Bar panel applet works compared to Caja. I've raised an issue upstream.

xdg-user-dirs-gtk-update now creates a file ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks instead of ~/.gtk-bookmarks. So a quick solution is :
ln -s ~/.config/gtk-3.0/bookmarks .gtk-bookmarks !
