Bug Description

trying to unblacklist a video card in compiz but even with ghex 2 it's not doing it the file is somehow hardcoded and will not let me unblacklist it i have a nvidia card but compiz still picks up the intel blacklisted card and it is turned off.I have also tried the skipcheck and adding the ppa for karmic but nothing works.

This doesn't sound like a bug in the manual. Could this be a duplicate of a bug I reported 3 months ago? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/524734

No this has to do with ubuntu 10.04 only in 9.10 you could open the blacklisted file with gedit or any text editor with 10.04 you have to open it with ghex2 and then it's just a lot of ascii code so there is really no way to unblacklist it that i have found i only need to unblacklist the card because compiz picks up on the intel card that is turned off i have a nvidia card that i use but compiz still picks up on the intel one that is turned off (i don't know why it does)

Two things:
1) This is not a bug in the Ubuntu Manual project, so you need to find a different package to report this against (I suggest compiz; it would be really nice to have this work correctly out-of-the-box).
2) I *know* that a workaround does not constitute a fix; however, if you really really really just want something, anything, to make it work, then I would suggest you look at this post in the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1467202#8 - replace 8086:2562 with your own PCIID (lspci -vvnn | grep -i graphic).

Changed in ubuntu-manual:
