Bug Description

The manual discusses the use of apt-get update and apt-get upgrade but doesn't mention apt-get dist-upgrade. Generally for new users dist-upgrade is preferable to upgrade.

This bug was also filed via the google spreadsheet. Filing here to keep track.

What's the rationale for not fixing this in the lucid manual?

Alan,

At the moment I do not believe there is a plan for a 3rd Edition of the Lucid Manual. Which is why it was deferred until the maverick manual.

In addition there was not time to fix this with the lucid e2 deadline.

I hope this answers your question.

Feel free to add additional comments, if you have further views.

Thanks
Chris

Ok, disappointing, but there's limited resources, I understand. I did file this only 3 months ago :) In fact I'm pretty sure I filed this via the bug spreadsheet before then and when I asked how I could get better visibility was told (some time later) to file in launchpad. Might want to nail down those processes for the next release. I'm less motivated to file bugs if they're going to get ignored :(
