Bug Description

There's lots of text about Unix but no mention of "kernel", what it (Linux) does etc.

Getting started with Ubuntu 10.04, Revision number: 729
Prologue, pages 8-9

Changed in ubuntu-manual:
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Low
milestone: none → edition-2

I'd suggest a simple rewording the first sentence in the section from:
Ubuntu is built on the foundation of Linux, which is a member of the Unix family.
to:
Linux is a member of the UNIX(R) family of operating systems, and is the foundation on which Ubuntu is built.

I think the wording is OK. If any changes is to be made it should focus on the the "kernel" part, not the "Unix" part..

@Marc @Fredrik

I think that the wording is fine and more info on what the kernel is.

Wording is fine to me...just need some info on what the Kernel is/does. If nobody has an objection I'll start working on this.
