This looks like a small hiccup during installation. The manual is correct and still up-to-date in regards to the use of the ~/Downloads folder in Ubuntu. So I'll change the status to Invalid.

> How to create the Downloads folder

1. Open your Home folder (in that screenshot, you'd have to go one folder up)

2. Right click on an empty space and choose "Create New Folder"

3. Change the name of the new folder to Downloads

4. Go into the Downloads folder (double-click it)

5. In the menu, click on Bookmark -> Add Bookmark, which should make the Downloads folder appear in the left-hand frame under Places. The menu will appear when you hover your mouse on the very top of your screen while you are inside your Downloads folder.

Changed in ubuntu-manual:
status: New → Invalid

In the Ubuntu Manual for 14.04, this is covered under "Files file manager > Creating new directories" (p. 28) and "Files file manager > The Files file manager window > left pane" (p. 28).

Thank you very much for your earliest replay. I did as per your
instructions. The download folder creating separately under Bookmark not
Home. I want under the folder of Home. Screen-shot attached.

Thanks and Regards

In terms of you directory structure, you did successfully create the
Downloads folder under your Home folder (see the red rectangle in the
edited screenshot below).

The "Bookmark" is not a folder, feel free to ignore that. It's just
some name that the Files file explorer uses internally.

Now, if the current organization of the left pane bothers you (that
is, if you want to move Downloads under the Places heading on top in
the left pane), I do not know how to do that.
