Bug Description

It seems telnet's manpage is missing. Search results are empty.

This is a little bit complicated...

On my system:

 $ ls -alF /usr/share/man/man1/telnet.1.gz
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 2008-07-06 21:55 /usr/share/man/man1/telnet.1.gz -> /etc/alternatives/telnet.1.gz

$ ls -alF /etc/alternatives/telnet.1.gz
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 38 2008-07-06 21:55 /etc/alternatives/telnet.1.gz -> /usr/share/man/man1/telnet.netkit.1.gz

The manpage for telnet.netkit does exist in the repository:

I'm nearly done with a "Full Text Search" feature for the repository. This should turn up all of the near-hits, and should let you focus on the one you want.

I'm going to mark this as "confirmed" for now.

As soon as I roll out the full text search, I'll ask you to retest using that search and see if you can find what you're looking for ;-)

Thanks for the report!

I'm going to mark this fix released, as I'm fixing this as best as I can. If you search for "telnet", the best hit is #2:

Ultimately, you might consider filing a bug against the 'telnet' package and request that they install the manpage as just 'telnet.1.gz', rather than 'telnet.netkit.1.gz'.
