simple scan - ubuntu 22.04.04 - not detecting network scanner as of 6/28/2024, all updates installed, that are not held back

Bug Description
As of 6/28/2024, after verifying all updates have been added, except for the held back updates, simple scan will not detect my Brother dcp-l2550dw printer scanner. I can send a print out to it via the network though. I have been using this multifunctional printer scanner for about a year on my pc with out issue, until today.
I also have on my network serveral Savin MFP's that are also no longer being detected by simple scan.

the pc was rebooted after updating.
