Bug Description

With 14.04 LTS, the names of the following commands looked alright:

http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man1/parallel-scp.1.html
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man1/parallel-slurp.1.html

       parallel-scp - parallel versions of scp
       parallel-slurp - copy files from listed hosts

Starting with 16.04 LTS, the name got corrupted.
18.04 LTS, 19.04, and 19.10 are affected.

http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man1/parallel-slurp.1.html
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man1/parallel-scp.1.html

       parallel-scp — parallel process kill program
       parallel-slurp — parallel process kill program

If you are referencing the dash in 14.04 versus the em '—' then there is no corruption and the source is rendered as expected.

Try downloading the latest source of the package and confirming that there is in fact an em dash.

    pscp \(em parallel process kill program

And in the Trusty version:

    $ vim pssh-2.2.2/debian/parallel-scp.1

.SH "NAME"
    parallel-scp \- parallel versions of scp

ughhhhh it posted on accident let me try again :)

First, thanks for taking the time to reach out.

If you are referencing the dash '-' in 14.04 versus the em '—' then there is no corruption and the source is rendered as expected.

Try downloading the latest source of the package and confirming that there is in fact an em dash in newer versions and a normal dash in the version found in trusty.

    $ pull-lp-source pssh
    $ vim pssh-2.3.1/man/man1/pscp.1
    <snip>
    .SH NAME
    pscp \(em parallel process kill program

And in the Trusty version:

    $ pull-lp-source pssh trusty
    $ vim pssh-2.2.2/debian/parallel-scp.1
    <snip>
    .SH "NAME"
    parallel-scp \- parallel versions of scp

Marking invalid, but if I have missed something please let me know. Thanks!

Changed in ubuntu-manpage-repository:
status: New → Invalid

Actually, I was referring to the text standing to the right of the dashes.

I added some capitalization to emphasize:

For "parallel-scp": "parallel versions of scp" (okay) vs "parallel PROCESS KILL PROGRAM" (bad)
For "parallel-slurp": "copy files from listed hosts" (okay) vs "parallel PROCESS KILL PROGRAM" (bad)
